Great Hucklow C.E. Primary School - HistoryThe foundation stone for Great Hucklow School was laid in 1872 by Childers Radford. Unusually, the school is not situated in the centre of the village, as most village schools are. It can be found up a single track road opposite the village telephone box. This is because all the land within the village was owned by the Unitarians and therefore unavailable to build on. A well wisher donated the only piece of local land available at the time, on which to build the school for the good of the local community.
