Recent and Forthcoming Twinning Events

Local Life and Landscape Poetry Competition

Budding bards are invited to pen a poem inspired by any aspect of this small but very special community and extended village of ours. Winning entries will be printed in a book, to be produced by our French twin, celebrating both the Hucklows and Parisot. Deadline for entries in 15th June 2011. Further information from the Secretary.

AGM on 11th May 2011

At the AGM, reports were presented by the Secretary (Secretary's Report) and the Treasurer (Treasurer's Report). As no-one new came forward to take over from the existing officers, Tania Wallis-Smith remains as Chairman, Janet Persey remains as Secretary and Anna Whatley remains as Treasurer. Sheila Martin and David Voas were elected to the committee, joining existing committee members Gillian Beer and Sue Daniel. Rachel Purvis, as headteacher of Great Hucklow Primary School, completes membership of the committee. It was agreed to hold subscription rates at the same level as in 2010-2011 (£5 for individuals, £10 for couples, families and groups).

Bread, Butter and Biodanza

Yet again, the English weather came up trumps for the twinning. A week-long visit over Easter by Parisot school-teacher Arnaud Bersez and his partner Amaryllis was bathed in warm sunshine, which brought a festival atmosphere to the various activities. Arnaud shared his special bread-making skills, Anna got everyone butter-making and, later in the week, Amaryllis introduced us to Biodanza - the Dance of Life. Great fun for all involved and further cementing of friendships both within our own community and with our twin.

School Twinning Logo Competition - January 2011
